Review: Bourjois 1 Second Magic Nail Polish Remover

OH MY, This nail polish remover sure is one of my holy grail products! This isn't a new product, it has been in the market for a while, so i'm sure a lot of you have seen this remover on other blogs before. I really don't know why i didn't write a review about this before lol. Sephora has one as well and this one is similar to it, but since Sephora is leaving the Dutch market, I decided to write a review about this one - the Bourjois 1 Second Magic Nail Polish Remover.

.
DESCRIPTION
IT INSTANTLY REMOVES NAIL POLISH. 1 SECOND PER NAIL WITHOUT COTTON WOOL/PAD! Abra-cadabra!!! Magic in a pot! Nail polish is instantly removed with the touch of a magic wand! For each nail, simply Dip-Twist-Remove in 1 second without any cotton wool. Your nails will be polish-free in just 1 second! Plus, its red berry and vanilla fragrance leaves nails delicately scented. And…it’s good for your nails as well since it doesn't include acetone, it's gentle on your nails and cuticles, it's enriched with nourishing sweet almond oil, it's paraben free and dermatologically tested.

When I read the description for the first time I was wondering if it really worked and i was scared that the scent would be too strong. Continue with reading for the rest of the review ....

WHERE TO BUY?
People in the Netherlands can buy it at the drugstore, Kruidvat, Etos, DA and at Douglas. It's sold for €7.99 and it has 75ml of product in it. People outside The Netherlands can purchase it at Boots or Superdrug and it's sold for £4.99 there. Quite expensive for only 75ml don't you think? However, I definitely think it's worth it!

OTHER BRANDS...
Like I said before Sephora has one as well, but recently the brands, P2, KIKO, Maybelline, HEMA, Kruidvat and more have released their own version and for a lower price tag. You can check those out as well, but I don't know if it's as good and fast as this one.

PACKAGING
It comes in a pink plastic bottle with a sticker label on it. Since its a French brand, it has French and English descriptions on the label.

When you twist the cap open you will see a black sponge inside with a hole in it. This is a hole where you should dip your finger to remove the nail polish. The sponge is soaked in nail polish remover.

.
SCENT
It has a vanilla and red berry scent but you can also smell the scent of nail polish remover. The scent is pleasant to me, but i can imagine that it's a bit overwhelming to some. However, it definitely smells better than the normal nail polish removers that we are used to. After usage, you are still able to smell the scent for the rest of the day on your nails.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Just dip your finger in the hole of the nail polish remover and twist the plastic bottle from left to right for a few times. Don't worry your nails will be ok, the sponge feels soft, it's not like a sand sponge. It claims to remove the nail polish after 1 second, but it took around 2-3 seconds (per nail) for me to remove it completely. Some polishes are trickier to remove than others and may require more than one attempt.

.

In the picture below you can see that the nail polish is almost off, this is a picture that i took after 1 second:

I repeated the steps and this is a picture that I took after 2 seconds, as you can see it is polish-free:
.
DOES THIS WORK ON GLITTER NAIL POLISH TOO?
After I tried it with a normal nail polish I was curious if this worked on glitter nail polish as well. It would be awesome if that worked too, since those are more difficult to remove.

Ok, lets do it again, dip your finger into the nail polish remover and twist the bottle from left to right for a few times, also dip your finger with an up and down motion.

In the picture below you can see how it looked after 1 second, as you can see the glitter nail polish is still on there. So lets repeat those steps.

After repeating the steps, it looked like this (see picture below). Oh no, the glitters are still on there!!
After repeating the steps for the third time, the glitters were gone! It took around 5-6 seconds (1 nail) in total to remove the glitter nail polish, which is actually pretty fast! It normally takes around 10-14 seconds or longer to remove my glitter nail polish. This was actually pretty fast! One downside about this is that the glitters will get stuck onto the sponge, so you need to try to remove it with a cotton swab afterwards.

INGREDIENTS BOURJOIS MAGIC NAIL POLISH REMOVER

.
PROS
• Your nails will smell lovely afterwards
• Removes your nail polish very fast
• Very easy to use
• No need to rub
• Acetone and paraben free
• No need to use cotton wool or pads
• Lovely girly packaging
• Easy to travel with
• The sponge feels soft
• Works on glitter nail polish as well (but it takes longer)
• Your nails won't feel dry nor extremely moist afterwards, just feels normal

CONS
• Doesn't live up to its '1 second' claim
• You will be using the "dirty" nail polish remover again and again
• Glitters will get stuck onto the sponge
• Hard to remove the nail polish on your toe nails with this
• More expensive than regular nail polish removers
• Only has 75ml in one bottle

HOW LONG CAN YOU USE THIS REMOVER?
It all depends on how often you use it. Remember, that you are actually re-using the nail polish remover, so it will get dirty the more you use it. I think it will last for 3-4 months if you use it once a week. I'm not sure if you can get the sponge out of the bottle, otherwise try to get it out and fill it with some new nail polish remover. I haven't tried it myself, but it's worth the try.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I highly recommend to use this instead of the normal nail polish remover ^^.  I know that it's quite expensive for such a small bottle. You can normally get a nail polish remover for €2.- or something with much more product. However, I think that its the sponge that really works! I'm amazed that this baby worked on normal nail polish as well as glitter nail polish. Even though it didn't live up to its 1 second claim, it did remove the nail polish quite quickly, lets say around 3-5 seconds and i didn't even have to rub the glitters off! Besides, it didn't dry out my nails or cuticles and the scent is lovely too! Did I convince you to try it out yet hahaha, i'm just loving it!

BUY OR NOT?
Buy if you want to remove your nail polish quickly, if you hate to use cotton pads all the time and/or if you have a hard time removing glitter nail polish. Don't buy if you don't like vanilla and red berry scent or if want to use it on your toe nails.

note: this product is purchased with my own money.
