Review: PMD Personal Microderm Device Part 1

Today I am writing a review about the Personal Microderm (PMD) device. I'm sure that a lot of you have heard of it before since it has been such a popular tool since 2012. Many Youtubers love it and it is mentioned in many magazines and tv shows before, which made me wanted to try it as well. I have used this device twice and today I will be sharing part 1 of my review of the PMD device. Make sure to read this blogpost if you are still hesitating to buy this or if you are interested in this device.

If you have acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, a rough skin texture or an uneven skin tone, then you should try out microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion is a form of exfoliation that removes the dead skin cells from the outer layer of the skin. It exfoliates this skin layer with Aluminum Oxide Crystals and it has a vacuum suction which smoothes away dull and rough skin texture and it softens fine lines, wrinkles, burn scars and blemishes. The treatment also improves the skin tone by fading uneven pigmentation, sun damage, age spots and skin blemishes.

The device can clear out clogged pores and release trapped dirt and oil. This leaves the skin more clear, vibrant, and beautiful. The benefits of microdermabrasion cause skin to rejuvenate, while promoting new collagen growth and cell renewal. Once the dead skin cells are removed, your skin care products can be more fully absorbed into the skin, which maximizes the effectiveness.

Some of you might remember that I went to a beauty salon before to have a microdermabrasion treatment (see blogpost). I had some great experiences after that but my oh my, it cost at least €300.- for 5 treatments at beauty salons in The Netherlands. When I first heard about the PMD device I was extremely excited and hoped that this device could create the same results as a treatment at a beauty salon. No need to spend so much money for treatments anymore and I'm able to do it at home! The PMD device cost $181 and can be purchased at www.personalmicroderm.com (link to the product). They ship worldwide and offers FREE SHIPPING at the moment until the 1st of February 2013, use the coupon code:  SHIPFREE. The price seems high, but compared to a treatment at a beauty salon, it's extremely inexpensive and you can easily do it yourself.
Besides the personal microderm device, there is a small instruction book included and a DVD that you should watch before using the tool. There are 7 exfoliating discs: 1 white training disc, 2 green ones and 4 blue ones. Also 1 facial cap, 1 body cap, 1 reusable filter and 1 electric cord with worldwide plugs.
In the DVD they explain how to use the PMD device, how to clean it and they will provide some information about their skincare products that you can use after each treatment.
This is how it looked like when i first opened the box. Everything was well packed and nothing was damaged - great packaging!

It only has one button on the device, the on and off button, which makes it extremely easy to use  for everybody.
It comes with 2 caps: one for the body (you need to use this together with the large disc) and one for the face (you need to use this together with the small disc).
When you open the box, the training disc and the small cap is already on the device. The discs are available in different colors: white, blue, green and on the website you can also purchase the red ones. Each color is slightly different from the level of exfoliation:
- White disc is for ultra sensitive skin as well as to train you how to use the PMD Personal Microderm device. It provides the lowest level of exfoliation.
- Blue disc is the best for sensitive skin.
- Green disc has a medium exfoliation.
- Red disc provides the highest level of exfoliation.
All colors comes with large and small discs, the large ones are for the body, the small ones are for the face. You can easily remove the discs and replace them if you want to.

I had to choose the international one on their website (link to the product) otherwise i wouldn't get the European plug (most left one). If you are not sure if the plug is right or not, just check the picture below. I'm sure that one of the plugs is suitable for your country.

Make sure that your skin is clean and dry. On your first PMD treatment you need to use the training disc on your neck and below the ears, to test how your skin will react. After you've done this, wait for a week to see if you got weird reactions from it. If you didn't get any weird reactions, remove the white disc and replace it with a blue one. Use your hand to pull the skin tight, make contact with the suction and your skin, once you feel the suction, be sure to make an upward motion all the time and avoid the eye area. DO NOT GO OVER THE SAME SPOT TWICE, OTHERWISE YOU WILL GET A SCAR! After the treatment, use a toner to neutralize the ph balance in your skin and make your skin moist again. Follow with your normal skincare routine. Let your skin recover by waiting 6-7 days between the treatments.

I have an uneven skin tone, dark freckles, redness around my nose area and small scars from pimples around my mouth which you can see in the WEEK 2 picture below. I have used this device twice and I love it so far. It really removes the dead skin cells (visible when you look at the plastic cap after the treatment), it has reduced the redness around my nose area and it lightened my pimple scars a bit. Also, after every treatment my skin feels extremely smooth. I do need to point out that it doesn't hurt at all when using this device, you will only feel the suction. The suction somehow doesn't work on my nose though (i don't know why). Also, it makes a lot of sound when the tool is on, i don't really mind it actually, but some might not like the sound.

I'm very satisfied with this device even after 2 treatments. I can't wait to see more improvements after a few weeks. It definitely has become one of my favorite beauty tools and it will remain in my skincare routine for sure. I'm going to write another blogpost after a few weeks with an update about my skin and improvements. Look forward to that girls ^^!

It's highly recommended for people who are already going to beauty salons for microdermabrasion treatments. It's way more inexpensive to buy this device and it's very easy to use at home as well. It's suitable for all skin types, even for people with a sensitive skin which is great. If you suffer from acne scars, pimples scars, redness or uneven skin tone, this is the beauty tool for you!

You can purchase the device at www.personalmicroderm.com. They ship worldwide and offer FREE SHIPPING at the moment until the 1st of February 2013, use the coupon code: SHIPFREE. You can also like their facebook page, twitter or youtube to stay up to date of new products.
