Ugh... it's THE time of the year again.. I have a combinated dry skin and recently I keep getting dry and flaky spots on my face which I totally hate! A lot of people will have it during the winter (because of the cold weather) and some will suffer from it no matter what time of the year it is. I usually have it during the winter and it really looks ugly when I have foundation on my face. The common dry spots are the nose, mouth, cheeks and above the eyebrows area. In this blogpost I'm going to give you a few tips for your dry and flaky skin which helped on my skin. Continue with reading if you want to know more ;)..

How to cure dry, flaky skin? I recommend to follow these steps:
Step 1: Exfoliate: use a scrub with tiny beads to get rid of the flakes, like the Garnier Skin Naturals Pure 3 in 1. You can also use CURE Natural Aqua gel to exfoliate your skin. Attention! Make sure that you don't use exfoliators with a very rough texture because they can damage your skin! Also, it's not good to exfoliate your skin EVERY single day, twice a week should be enough.
Step 2: Steam your face: after you exfoliate, it's good to steam your face. Steaming the face is a good way to thoroughly deep clean your pores, blackheads and whiteheads. By this, you will wide the clogged pores and soften the skin in order to clean the impurities, the traces of makeup, black/whiteheads and dust more easily. You can use a face steamer (these things are quite cheap probably around €15.-), but you can also create a face steamer yourself.
Face steamer at home
Put boiling water into a large bowl. Put your face directly above the steam and drape a small towel over your head for keeping the steam from escaping. Stay 10 to 15 minutes until the steam disappears and rinse your face with lukewarm water. Pat your face dry with a soft towel afterward. It's ok to steam your face 2 to 3 times a week.
Step 3: Apply a mask
The best time for applying a mask is after steaming your face, because the pores are open and the mask will be able to penetrate deeply into the skin. Try out facial masks with enough serum, like My beauty Diary masks or Silk Whitia masks. If you don't like sheet masks, try out Nivea moisturizing cream mask (I will be reviewing this product later on my blog).
You should do this routine once or twice a week. I noticed difference on my first routine, so I hope it will help on your skin as well ^^.
Which products do I have to use for flaky skin?
Use different skincare products during the winter. The weather changes in the winter which means that you need to use different products to protect your skin. For dry skin it's important that the products that you're using has hyaluronic acid in it. Also, try to layer your skincare products! You can try out the Hada labo line for example, all of their products contains hyaluronic acid.
Make sure that your night cream is thick enough to moisturize your skin. I used to use the Egyptian magic cream but I didn't repurchase it because it's kinda expensive. So now I'm using Laneige sleeping mask once to twice a week and on the other days I'm using the Hada Labo moiturizing cream.
Attention! Don't use make up products which will dry out your skin, like some BB creams do, there are moisturizing BB creams in the market! Also, let your skin rest for a few days (e.g. during the weekends), try not to put make up on those days. And oh yeah drink plenty of water!!! I hope these few tips will help, Good luck with your skin ^___^!
