Review: NYC Individual Eyes Palette - Smokey Blues

A few months ago I bought this New York Color individual eyes palette. It's an all-in-one compact with everything you need for a complete eye look: a primer, illuminator, applicator and 4 eye shadows. They have four colors that are specially coordinated to intensify and enhance your eye color. This palette that I bought is to enhance blue eyes. I didn't notice the packaging while I bought it lol and I don't have blue eyes at all xD. My eyes are dark brown, but hey who cares xD I'm going to use the palette anyways. I think that it will work well with a variety of eye colors and skin tones :).

Price
Many questions were raised about the price at my previous NYC product review: "Is it really that cheap or are some fake?" Remember.... New York Color (NYC) is a budget brand so their whole line isn't expensive. This palette was only €4,99 for 0.33 oz. at a Dutch drugstore (Kruidvat). The prices of all products are also mentioned on their website, check it out if you're curious: http://www.newyorkcolor.com/ .

Packaging
It has a simple & handy packaging. At the back of the palette you will see a description and a small image of how to use the palette on the eyes. I think it's a good idea to do so, it will give you a view of how to use the palette. You don't have to follow the example of course.

Colors
As you can see on the pictures, there is a bit shimmer at the 2 crease/contour eyeshadows. The pigmentation of all eye shadows are surprisingly good. I didn't use the primer in this swatch picture, but while i used it on my eyes i could see that the colors are more visible with the primer on. The primer is quite oily & creamy so it didn't last long on my oily eyelids. The illuminator is a bit shimmery, you won't need a lot of it otherwise it will glow too much.
My opinion
Overall it's a great palette ^^ especially for the price. I won't use this primer though since it's not suitable for my oily lids, but the pigmentation is great and it looks good with my dark brown eyes. Therefore, I recommend this palette to you girls :).

An illuminator is a kind of highlighter which brightens up your face. It gives the places where you apply it, a glow and it looks less dull. Most of the people will apply it on the cheekbones and at middle of the nose.

  7. i love how it's all in one ^^ your photos sure make it look good haha ...almost too bad cause i wanted to buy it for the primer but i ended up getting covergirl (is that popular in netherlands?)because it was $3 with sale & coupon and that NYC was still $5 haha but i bought the covergirl for blue eyes palete cause it was prettier., the department lady said blue is the best to bring out brown eyes ^^

  8. @hihihi, the best primer is the urban decay primer potion and the two faced primer. I wouldn't buy an other one if i were you xD. Covergirl isn't sold in the netherlands (only online), so i don't really know how the quality of that brand is. Is it any good? .. I really have no idea, since it's not popular here :).

  9. haha i have NO idea...cause i don't use makeup >< it's only for special occasions. however it's a drugstore brand that everyone uses and is everywhere so i assumed it was good...i actually don't know anything about makeup, are drugstore brands meant to be good?? they;re a little more expensive than nyc usually but you do need something to stick the particles on, but if you brush your finger across the colours your finger is very pigmented. lol :)

  11. @hihihi, it depends on how the quality of the products are. Some drugstore brands are good, some are just bad or so-so. The price doesn't always decide the quality. I normally swatch it at the store to check if it's pigmented before I buy it ;).

  16. Wow these are really pigmented! I've never bothered to try any of the NYC products before because they look so cheap, but I guess this just goes to show you that appearance isn't everything :)

  17. I honestly will never buy the makeup again. I love their colors, but for some reason I have an allergic reaction to this (and I have NEVER been allergic to anything.) I don't put it on too heavy or anything. I apply it as I do other makeups, and for some reason only this one has ever made my eyelids burn. I don't know if it's just my palette or what, but it sucks.,

  18.  wow that really sucks.. you're probably allergic to an ingredient which they used in their palette. It burns?? Whoa, you really should go to your doctor to check it out!!! hope everything will be back to normal soon.

  19. The funny thing is that I've never had an allergic reaction to ANY makeup before. I've used heavy, stage makeup since using the NYC IndividualEyes palette and it hasn't done anything to me. The weird thing is that the palette doesn't list any ingredients on it and doesn't say that it has been tested on anything. Thank you for the advice, I will definitely check with my doctor and see if anything is wrong.

  20.  yeah i know what you mean about the allergic reaction. I also had it before after using a mascara from maybelline =/. my eyelids were totally swollen up the day after and i got very dry eyelids after it.. x_x really sucks.. and it's still not fully healed.
