Do you feel insecure without make up on?

A lot of people are looking VERY different when they have make up on. Especially when people use eyelid tape, circle lenses and fake eyelashes. You can look completely different. Just like them... can you see who they are? Yes, it's 2ne1 ^^.

It's the power of make up and photoshop ♥. I know that tons of women are using loads of makeup before they go outside, especially in Asia~

My question to you is: Do you feel insecure without makeup on?

My answer: Yes a little bit, even though I don't use much make up, I do feel a bit insecure when I have a naked face. I'm just used to put a bit of BB cream on my face before I go outside. Once you use makeup, you can't stop! I started to use make up when I was 19 years old, which is quite late already, since there are plenty of 11/12 year old girls using makeup already. When I was that age, I didn't even KNOW what a concealer was sheesh... Look at this little girl.. can you tell that she's only 12 on the right picture?

  1. I know I definitely feel more self conscious - but not self conscious enough to actually *wear* makeup on a daily basis. I treasure sleep far more than getting up 30 mins earlier to get my makeup done!

This is selective feeling self conscious that I'm talking about though - like, I don't even think about it unless I see a really CUUUUTE guy - then the thought 'crap' goes through my mind. But otherwise I'm not fussed one way or another. I definitely feel more confident in the way I look when I've got my full makeup on though.

Yeah that 12 year old girl creeped me out a bit the first time I saw the photos! Her skills are MAD! I can't even apply falsies without making a mess.....

  2. Elisa... this is very true. I actually started using makeup around 21 (my last 2 years of college) but now I feel like i look more awake with makeup on, and BB Creams do help, even just a little.

To be honest, the later you start wearing makeup is, in my opinion, better.. girls that start at 12 is just ridiculous!
    1. they don't need makeup
    2. their skin is still very fresh and tender (makeup will only ruin their skin).
    3. makeup will take away their innocent look.
    *shame on this little girls!*

Unfortunately, older we get, we need the makeup.

  3. @Jian, I was like that when i was young, I rather sleep than getting up earlier than putting make up on xD But now i'm just used to get up earlier and i feel more self conscious when i have makeup on ^_^ and now I won't have that "OMG i am ugly! feeling" when I see a cute guy xD hahah

@mishi, SO TRUE! 12 year old girls don't even NEED make up =.=, they usually have a flawless skin~ *jealous,, wants to be young again!* and lol.. TRUE as well.. i'm getting olddd.. need-more-make up.... to cover spots and q10 cremes lol xD

  4. Hmmm, I have no problem with going out without make up on but of course it makes you feel a lot better if you do wear it outside but like I said before, I would have no problem wearing no make up outside :)

  5. i think its quite sad how children don't stay children for that long anymore, innocence is a thing of past :(

in the UK some 12 year old girls r getting pregnant and dressing quite inappropraite for school :( also I feel more confident with makeup, but I don't feel not confident without it? I don't really like the thought of wearing makeup everyday aswell. also thanks for entering :)

  6. Wow I didn't recognise Dara in her no makeup picture :O She looks the most different from her makeup picture. I only feel insecure without makeup if I go to an evening event but during the day I hardly wear makeup unless I go somewhere special :) When I'm with my boyfriend, I don't bother with makeup haha x]

I've seen that little girl photo before but even so, it still shocks me everytime I see it! Way too young to be wearing that much but the makeup applying skills are really good. If she was older then it would be okay I guess

  7. That is a really really really old photo of 2ne1. I don't think they look like that anymore without make up. On their 2ne1 tv show, they don't look like that when they wake up. Allkpop was never a reliable source for Korean news haha.

I used to wear make up at the start of college, but then ran out of time to really put any of it on in the morning. I decided to wear it sparingly or none at all. :3

  8. I didn't wear makeup till i was a senior in college so makeup is more of an annoyance to me even now. BBcream is my exception though, I like to have bbcream on b/c it covers the scars I have and I feel like i did something good for myself since it has sunscreen in it ^_^ but even without it, I don't care too much. I just wear a hat on my lazy days ahha.

I actually dont think 2ne1 looks that different without makeup. For one thing, nobody is smiling in their "before" pics and that makes a huge difference. And the lightening is terrible. As for the 12 year old...:\ her skin looks lovely, but I don't begrudge her skill and determination to learn.

  9. Holly molly, I was shocked to find that the girl is only 12.
I agree with your line "Once you use makeup, you can't stop!" Scary as it sounds, it's true : /
I can't leave the house with out at least having eyeshadow on.... Addiction!

  10. I only started wearing make up when I was about twenty or something. Not so very long ago ^^ And I have to admit it gives me a bit of a confidence boost every time I put make up on.

But I don't wear make up daily. Only on special occasions or when I want to 'feel pretty' :P People know me without make up, they respect me without make up, and I'm more 'myself' without make up. I like being myself, especially now that I feel a lot more confident than some years ago. I don't want to hide myself behind a mask.

I think everyone is free to do whatever they want, like the twelve year old girl. I wouldn't really like it if my daughter was wearing over the top make up, but it's not because she wears this kind of make up to play around, that she's wearing it daily. And at least she'll have some great techniques for when she needs them (instead of us, mere mortals, who have to try and try and practise to apply make up in a decent way now that we might need them)

  11. Aaaah, those poor children! Makes you want to smack the parents -____- If my hypothetical daughter wants to wear make I will buy her something from Bobby Brown when she is 15-16, but not earlier.
I also started late with wearing make-up (when I went to University, so at 18 or something) and I have a feeling I have some catching up to do, hence all of my beauty buys ^_^''' Still I am too lazy to beautify myself every day (10 minutes extra sleep are more precious to me ^^), so I mostly go to work without any make-up on, but we, scientists, don't care about the looks anyway =))) I do wear make-up every day when I am in Moscow though (it's a certain vibe there I guess) ^^

  12. I don't wear make-up at all so I don't feel insecure nor secure haha~ I even don't care if I have a huge zit on my forhead.
Like Jian said, I prefer longer sleep than getting up.

12 years! Of course you can have a little fun with moms make-up aslong you don't overdo it~

    xxx~

  13. Reply to michelle, insideoutelle, bibi, mitchin.

@Michelle, i think it's a photo which was taken in 2009 :)? Quite old indeed xD but i don't think they have changed alot though..

@insideoutelle, I agree about the smiling part =) everybody looks different when they smile.

@Bibi, lol i'm sure that she will be an awesome makeup artist/guru when she's older XD

@Mithin, would you buy bobbi brown for your children? hmm.. Maybe i would buy it if they were 18 years or something, when they know that it's expensive and GOOD stuff..

  14. Ahh! I was about to blog about this too! Well a bit more elaborated so maybe I will so later. But the "once you use makeup, you can't stop!" is COMPLETELY TRUE. I think it's because you feel ugly without the makeup on :( ?

I don't really feel insecure but I do a bit when I notice like a pimple or a few scars showing so I want to put foundation on! :(

  15. @Melody, Doesn't matter if we talk about the same topic right? Everybody has their own view about this ^_^ and you are totally true .. I always feel insecure when I have a large zit lol

  16. Dara looks very different without makeup on. But all four of them still look beautiful! :) I'd kill for their clear skin! I can see why CL always uses so much eyeliner though, she needs it to bring out her eyes more.

As for kids and makeup, as long as it's playing with makeup and not a full face of makeup that ages them 20 years, then I'm fine with it :) I mean, I wore a little bit of purple eyeshadow and mascara every day at that age, so I'd be a hypocrite if I was against it ;)

  17. Yuppp I'm definitely insecure without makeup on. Not necessarily a full face, but if I don't have concealer on--and to some extent, blush--I will feel quite awful until I crawl back home and hide! lol

  18. I just really don't care.

People, you are beautiful as you are! ♥

  19. @Elisa: Mmmm... I don't know... If she becomes interested *hypothetically ^^* in make-up early, I will feel safe with BB (nude colors, good quality, Bobby Brown sais in her book that her comsmetics is safe enough for teens, etc.), instead of her experimenting herself and having an allergie of some sort o.O If she is a nerd like me (hehe), then no worries, she would just buy the make-up herself when she can already afford it =)))

  20. i remember checking an article on that 12 yr old wearing makeup.. frankly shocking. i would scold my child if she had put makeup like that. i would be surprised if she could afford the makeup and lenses. all this crap is clearly, fed by her parents *rolls eyes* great post!

  21. I love 2NE1. They are still pretty without makeup. Those just aren't the best pictures of them. Especially CL's picture. I often leave the house without makeup. If I went to a party I would wear some. 12 year olds should not be wearing makeup. Way to young.

  22. I like your topic of the week label because it question and get me thinking. I love natural beauty (mainly because I dont have the skills to apply make up). As for insecurity, for me it'll always be there even if i have make up or not. I dunno why I just worry that people can see my flaws regardless of what i do. As for a 12 year old to wear make up like that I feel like it is wrong. I'm against kids wearing make up because they will grow up faster. A 12 year old should enjoy being a kid and childhood because they have their whole life to be old.

  23. hey elisa, very interesting topic!
i don't acutally feel insecure without make-up. i just look really inconspicuous -_- and i hate that lol!
also i started using make up quite early because when i was younger i had really really bad acne :C
nevertheless imo that little 12 year old girl looks just like a baby prostitute ö_ö

  24. @dedomhnaigh, usually when i go to party i will put more makeup than usual, like fake lashes =), but usually i won't do it.

@tam, hahah same here =P first of all, i have monolids which is even harder to put makeup on. And since i don't have lots of skills to apply makeup i usually do a natural look =)

@Cutielippi, i understand that you will use makeup if you have acne since you're young. I would do that as well.. However, if you had a flawless skin like that girl above.. I would really scold her if it was my child o_o". Playing for one time that's ok, but i think that girl practiced a lot to do this look.. =/
    Thanks for following btw. ^_^

  27. @kaizokumousy, don't be too harsh on yourself =[, i think that you're just used to your makeup look now and think that it's weird to see yourself without makeup. But you mustn't think that you're ugly without it, everybody is pretty in her own way ^_^.
